FAQs
How does AlphaMeow Lab work?
AlphaMeow Lab is an independent investing publication and subscription service centered around Market Temperature research and the Lazy Cat Portfolio.
We publish two primary types of research:
Monthly Portfolio Archive: A monthly summary of the Lazy Cat Portfolio, including Market Temperature shifts, portfolio positioning changes, performance tracking, and market commentary. Portfolio Archives are published with a 1-month delay and are available to all members.
Daily Market Temperature Updates: Daily real-time updates for Pro Members that may include Market Temperature changes, portfolio positioning adjustments, market observations, and portfolio notes as conditions evolve throughout the month. Updates are typically published after the market closes.
We do not manage client assets, provide personalized investment advice, execute trades on behalf of investors, or offer financial planning services. Instead, AlphaMeow Lab publishes Market Temperature research, Lazy Cat Portfolio updates, educational content, and market commentary designed to help readers better understand market conditions and risk management.
Who may find AlphaMeow Lab useful?
AlphaMeow Lab may be useful for readers who:
- Want to build wealth seriously without earnings call marathons, late-night chart watching, or doomscrolling financial news
- Want tactical growth exposure through a stress-free but systematic approach
- Want to outperform average market returns over time without turning investing into a second full-time job
- Already have a long-term core portfolio and want a smaller tactical “satellite” strategy
- Want to manage their own money in their own brokerage accounts
AlphaMeow Lab may be less useful for readers seeking constant trading alerts, high-frequency trading strategies, personalized investment advice, or guaranteed returns.
Is this financial advice?
No.
AlphaMeow Lab and the Lazy Cat Portfolio are intended for educational and informational purposes only. Nothing on this website should be interpreted as financial, legal, or tax advice.
All investment decisions are solely the responsibility of the individual investor.
What is the Lazy Cat Portfolio?
The Lazy Cat Portfolio is a public portfolio experiment on January 1, 2026 with a starting value of $186,166, demonstrating how Market Temperature can be used to guide tactical TQQQ exposure and risk management across changing market conditions.
It is designed as a smaller tactical “satellite” strategy rather than a complete portfolio.
What is Market Temperature?
Market Temperature, a proprietary indicator developed by AlphaMeow Lab using 10+ technical indicators focused primarily on QQQ and TQQQ market conditions.
Market Temperature evaluates trend, momentum, volatility, breadth, and overall market behavior to classify conditions as:
🟢 Positive
🟡 Neutral
🔴 Defensive
The goal is not to predict markets, but to help guide portfolio exposure and risk management through changing market environments.
Is the Lazy Cat Portfolio a full portfolio?
No.
The strategy is intended to be a tactical satellite allocation alongside a broader long-term investment portfolio.
Typical allocation size is approximately 5–10% of total investable assets.
Why does the portfolio use TQQQ?
The Lazy Cat Portfolio focuses primarily on QQQ and TQQQ because the goal is to gain extra exposure to long-term innovation, technology, and growth trends.
TQQQ provides leveraged exposure to the Nasdaq-100 and may offer enhanced upside during favorable market conditions. During less favorable environments, portfolio exposure may be reduced significantly or shifted to cash.
However, leveraged ETFs involve substantially higher volatility and risk. The strategy uses Market Temperature and risk management rules to help determine when increased exposure may or may not be appropriate.
Why doesn't the Lazy Cat Portfolio invest in individual stocks?
The Lazy Cat Portfolio focuses primarily on QQQ and TQQQ rather than individual stocks.
While individual stocks may occasionally generate exceptional returns, they also introduce company-specific risks such as earnings disappointments, management decisions, competitive pressures, regulatory changes, and unexpected events that are difficult to manage consistently.
By focusing on QQQ and TQQQ, the framework seeks exposure to long-term innovation, technology, and growth trends without relying on the success or failure of any single company.
The goal is not to find the next winning stock, but to participate in favorable market trends through a simpler, more systematic approach.
Why is the portfolio sometimes heavily invested in cash?
Capital preservation is an important part of the framework.
When Market Temperature becomes less favorable, the portfolio may significantly reduce exposure or move largely into cash rather than remain fully invested at all times.
Can I copy the portfolio?
The Lazy Cat Portfolio is published primarily to document and share a public portfolio experiment based on Market Temperature research and tactical TQQQ exposure.
It is not a copy-trading service, investment advisory service, or personalized investment recommendation.
Every investor has different financial goals, risk tolerance, tax situations, time horizons, and portfolio sizes. Readers should conduct their own research and make their own investment decisions before investing.
The portfolio is intended to provide transparency into one approach to market exposure and risk management, not instructions for how others should invest.
What is the key difference between Free and Pro membership?
The primary difference is timing and update frequency.
Free Members follow the Lazy Cat Portfolio through the Monthly Portfolio Archive, which includes a monthly summary of Market Temperature changes, portfolio positioning updates, performance tracking, and market notes.
Pro Members receive daily real-time email and posts about Market Temperature updates, portfolio positioning changes, and market commentary as conditions evolve throughout the month.
How often are updates published?
Monthly Portfolio Archive reports are published at the end of the following month. For example, the April 2026 Portfolio Archive was published at the end of May 2026 and includes a complete summary of April's Market Temperature shifts, portfolio positioning changes, performance, and market commentary.
Daily Market Temperature updates and portfolio positioning changes are available exclusively to Pro Members. Updates are typically published after the market closes and may include Market Temperature changes, portfolio adjustments, and market observations as conditions evolve throughout the month.
